Jarod Klaas
Sr. Director of Planning & Development
Jarod Klaas, a Professional Engineer, serves as the Senior Director, Planning and Development, for the Indianapolis Airport Authority. Jarod has nearly 30 years of engineering experience in both private and public sectors as well as consulting and has been with the IAA for 12 years. Jarod and his team demonstrate a tireless commitment to customer service, preservation of IAA’s physical assets, and compatible economic development.
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, he leads the IAA’s infrastructure rehabilitation and asset life-cycle planning initiatives. He is responsible for implementing a $1 billion dollar capital budget planning process across the enterprise.
Jarod oversees the strategic management, design, and delivery of complex projects to optimize the authority’s public assets for the Indianapolis International Airport and five regional aviation facilities. Jarod also serves as a public works procurement expert and facilitates consensus to effectively advance initiatives critical to the IAA’s mission to create Public Value.
Over his career, Jarod has developed extensive experience in the areas of aviation, consulting, industrial and utility environmental compliance, and local and State government. As a proud, Indiana native, Jarod earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Purdue University and a Master of Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Jarod gives back to the community and local STEM students by mentoring and lecturing to various groups, including the Minority Engineering Program of Indianapolis (MEPI), Indy ACE (Aviation Career Education) Academy, and area high schools. Jarod is also a MEPI Advisory Board Member.
