Indy Airport Announces Another Win for Notre Dame Fans

Nonstop specialty flights out of Indy to Atlanta added for CFP Championship

INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 15, 2025) – The Indianapolis International Airport (IND) takes care of its Indiana sports fans -- with a special event flight strategy that is continuing into 2025.

Next week American Airlines and Southwest Airlines will both offer additional nonstop flights to Atlanta (ATL) specifically for the College Football Playoff National Championship game.

American Airlines will depart from Indy at 11:45 a.m. on Jan. 19 and return at 10:35 a.m. on Jan. 21. Southwest will depart at 12 p.m. on Jan. 19, with two returning nonstop flights on Jan. 21 at 12 p.m. and 3:25 p.m.

“Notre Dame fans, we got you!” said Mario Rodriguez, Indianapolis Airport Authority executive director. “This month, our airline partners are helping fans see the Fighting Irish in Atlanta. And, starting in May, fans can visit the Emerald Isle via our new Aer Lingus nonstop flight to Dublin.”

Rodriguez said the IAA strategically focused on special event flights in 2024, securing additional nonstop, round trip flights for Indianapolis-hosted events, including NBA All-Star, the Total Solar Eclipse, Indianapolis 500, Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour, and Big Ten Football Championship.

“These opportunities happen because of partnerships,” said Maggie Cunningham, IAA director of air service and airport experience. “And IND is all about partnerships, ensuring we have our finger on the pulse of the local community, fans and travelers, and connecting those dots with our airline partners, when and where it matters.”

Delta Air Lines and Southwest Airlines currently offer scheduled nonstop flights daily to Atlanta from Indianapolis.
