Indy Airport Lands Three New Flights in a Single Day
Indianapolis now has 51 nonstop destinations to offer Hoosier travelers
INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 20, 2024) – In a single day, the Indianapolis International Airport (IND) has landed three new flights to cities on both the West and Gulf coasts, as well as the Sun Belt.
Allegiant Air and Frontier Airlines both announced yesterday they’ll be bringing new flights out of Indianapolis beginning in spring 2025. Allegiant will provide a new nonstop flight to Portland (Oregon), and Frontier Airlines will launch flights to Atlanta and Tampa.
“Along with more flights and more options, this will be the first nonstop flight out of Indy to Portland,” said Mario Rodriguez, Indianapolis Airport Authority executive director. “These new flights enhance access to major cities on both coasts and into the Sun Belt – and brings our total nonstop count to 51.”
The Allegiant nonstop flight to Portland will operate twice weekly beginning May 23, 2025. Portland is among the Indy airport’s top 10 unserved routes and has historically been among the top two unserved markets. The new flight to Portland represents Allegiant’s 17th destination from Indianapolis.
The Frontier flight to Atlanta will operate three times per week, beginning March 7, 2025, and the Tampa nonstop flight will also operate three times per week beginning March 6, 2025.
“Portland is a long-awaited win,” said Maggie Cunningham, IAA director of air service and airport experience. “We’ve been working to secure access to PDX since 2016 to bridge the market gap – and in May, we will officially close it. All of these are expected year-round flights that put more options on the board for passengers needing to reach these cities directly for work or play.”
Allegiant has operated an aircraft and crew base in Indianapolis since 2017 enabling significant growth for the airline and Hoosier travelers, including longer haul flights such as Portland. Both Indianapolis and Portland were recently named as the best places to travel in 2025.
Delta Air Lines and Southwest Airlines currently provide nonstop flights to Atlanta. Spirit Airlines and Southwest Airlines currently offer Hoosier travelers nonstop flights to Tampa, and Allegiant provides access with flights to St. Pete in the Tampa area. Allegiant is the only airline flying nonstop to Portland.
