Southwest Brings Chicago Midway Nonstop Flight Back to Indy

Southwest will be the only airline out of Indy serving Midway

INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 18, 2024) – Southwest Airlines announced it will resume its Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW) nonstop flight out of the Indianapolis International Airport (IND) beginning Aug. 5, 2025.

“This will be our 52nd nonstop destination operating out of IND,” said Mario Rodriguez, executive director of the Indianapolis Airport Authority. “And it’s another win for our community partners who come alongside us to improve nonstop access to key business and leisure destinations.”

While other airlines operate flights to Chicago O’Hare (ORD), Southwest will be the only airline out of the Indy airport flying into Chicago Midway.

The new Chicago Midway nonstop will operate twice daily, year-round, returning after a nearly five-year hiatus.

“Chicago Midway gives Hoosiers more access to Southwest’s destinations across the United States and beyond enabling easier travel for both business and leisure needs,” said Maggie Cunningham, IAA director of air service & airport experience.

Also new in 2025, Southwest is launching a daily nonstop flight from the Indy airport to Nashville (BNA) on March 6, 2025. The Indy airport has been pursuing this key business and leisure destination for more than seven years.

The airline also announced that it will increase its capacity overall through the Indy airport year-over-year during the peak 2025 Spring Break travel season. With this latest schedule extension, flights are now on sale through Oct. 1, 2025.

Currently from Indy, Southwest serves Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Cancun, Dallas (Love Field), Denver, Panama City, Ft. Lauderdale, Houston (Hobby), Las Vegas, Kansas City, Orlando, Miami, Phoenix, Ft. Myers, San Diego, Sarasota/Bradenton and Tampa.
