Breath
Breath, by Greg Hull, is made up of eleven kinetic elements hoisted within the atrium of the parking structure of IND. The presentation discusses aspects of integrating sculptural form within public/architectural spaces as well as the work’s relationship with the audience and the use of movement as a component of a visual vocabulary.

This piece plays on the eventual paths of IND guests through pedestrian and vehicular travel and revealed eventual visual lines of sight as well as opportunities to respond to the aesthetic and formal qualities of the structure. This led to the development of unique methods of visualizing and exploring the space during the conceptual design phase and depicting the experience of guests through the use of scale, color and movement. The final work embodies layers of complexity that were developed and executed through collaboration with professionals in a variety of fields. The work was completed and installed in November 2008.
